Seuss to Enter First Cup Series Event at NHMS
Any racecar driver who gets behind the wheel at any track in America has the same ultimate dream – to race in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series. That tour is the pinnacle of the sport and a true competitor always wants the chance to compete at the highest level possible.
Some drivers actively pursue a path to the glory and famer of Cup racing. Other drivers buckle down and work to become the best that they can within their own discipline of the sport. But don’t be fooled, deep down everyone who drivers a racecar dreams of racing in Cup.
Andy Seuss is a driver who has carved out quite a racing career. He has won a pair of NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour titles. He joined forces with Massachusetts businessman Chris Our to build a successful ARCA Racing Series team. He then took that team to a runner-up finish in ARCA competition at Talladega Superspeedway (AL). In his time away from the track, Seuss is a family man with a very supportive wife and two children.
So, getting to Cup racing may not have been high on Seuss’ to-do list. The dream has always been there, but sometimes life gets in the way. Fortunately, his efforts have not gone unnoticed. Seuss’ accomplishments on the track and his reputation as a hard worker off the track attracted the eye of NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series car owner Rick Ware and the two started talking about possible opportunities.
The result? Andy Seuss will enter his first career NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series event, the Foxwoods Resort and Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 21st.
“I’m blown away,” said Seuss. “This was a dream that I quite honestly kind of gave up on. I just did not think it was in the cards and I wasn’t the least bit upset about it. My career has been incredible, and I’ve gone further already than I ever thought I would. Chris and I are building for more great things at Our Motorsports and my focus has been completely on that.
“However, the stars aligned up right and Rick Ware approached me with the idea of doing something together for New Hampshire. It is my home track and a place that means so much to me. We’ve put this together and I can’t wait for July to come around now.
“When you focus on the right things for the right reasons, good things can happen. I don’t know how to give up and maybe we can give the dreamers something to cheer for in this race.”
Seuss is a native of Hampstead, New Hampshire and has competed at NHMS on the Whelen Modified Tour.
“My home state fans are very special,” said Seuss. “The only place better than New Hampshire to make my Cup debut might be the Daytona 500…and I’m not even sure about that. This place means so much to my family and I. It’s perfect to be a part of the Cup race there. It’s a real gift.
“The other great thing about racing in New Hampshire is that it is close to so many people who helped me get to where I am in my racing career. I’ve had so much help. There are people who have given me a chance to drive their racecars, people who have spent time turning wrenches in the shop at my parents’ house, people who have taken time away from their own families to help at the track, people who have made it all possible by offering sponsorship and people who have just cheered us on or offered a positive word or two. There are people like that all over – too many to name here. Many are up in New England though, so to share in this moment with everyone at the New England track for NASCAR Cup racing is very special.”
